Touch a Truck, Newcomers Club Ice Cream Social, Record Fair, Oyster Festival

  • The 36th annual Norwalk Oyster festival starts Sept. 6th (Friday night). Since Labor Day weekend weather was not so great, this may in fact be the last hurrah of summer. 

    With 40,000 expected to attend over the course of the 3-day event (Friday, Sept. 6th through Sunday, Sept. 8th), there's something for everyone: live bands including The Village People (Saturday at 9:00pm), rides, games, lumberjack axe demos, BMX stunt shows, circus acts, crepes, BBQ, pizza and even fried cheese curds!   • While  you're in Norwalk, C.J. Toth ferry will have 30 minute harbor cruises on Saturday, September 7th, and Sunday September 8th. They will start at 12 noon and continue every hour on the hour with the last departure at 6:00pm. It will leave from the waterfront docks behind Kids Cove. Price $5.00 per person.

  • DUI Checkpoint Sept. 6th (Friday) "Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest." Wilton Police Department will be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, Sept. 6th beginning in the evening and extending into Saturday morning. The checkpoint will be set up on Danbury Road. 

  • Touch a Truck is brought to you by Wilton Newcomers Club The event features pony rides, train rides, popcorn, bake sale, pizza, Wilton Steel Band, balloons, and, of course, trucks! Saturday, Sept. 7th, 11:00am - 3:00pm at Middlebrook School, 131 School Rd. Admission $30 per family. Rain or shine.
  • Tots to Teens Book Sale at Wilton Library.  
  • Friday, Sept. 6th. 1:00 noon – 6:00 pm
  • Saturday, Sept. 7: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Sunday, Sept. 8: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

    This library fundraiser features books for children of all ages – from board books and picture books to young adult novels, including fantasy and science fiction – all gently used or like-new. Also available are books on tape and CD, DVDs, and music CDs. All items are bargain priced. On Sunday items are half price.  
  • Open House Ice Cream Social, Wilton Newcomers Club. "Are you new to Wilton and looking for a fun way to meet new people? The Wilton Newcomers Club presents our Open House Ice Cream Social. Sunday, September 8th, 2013, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Merwin Meadows Pavilion and Playground, 52 Lovers Ln. Explore the many activities offered by the club, including: Book clubs, morning coffees, dinner groups and more.  Come ask questions, get information and sign up for whatever interests you. Let the kids play and enjoy some delicious ice cream while you meet other newcomers.

  • Music Mash '13 WPKN Record Fair, Saturday, Sept. 7th. Record Fair in Fairfield. This sounds worth the drive. Where: Fairfield Theatre Company Annex at 70 Sanford Street, Fairfield, CT from 8:00am to 5:30pm.

    Early Bird hours from 8:00am to 10:00am for a $20 admission fee. Regular admission begins at 10:00am for $5. Children under 12 admitted for free. Located across from the Fairfield Train Station, parking is plentiful and free. Tickets available only at the door! This event will feature a wide array of vendors and great opportunities to acquire some amazing albums, CDs and memorabilia.

    Featured special guests at the WPKN Booth: Chris Frantz & Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club), Hilton Valentine (The Animals), Rusty Ford (Lothar & the Hand People), and Charlie Karp (Buddy Miles Express).

    Food trucks from Taco Loco (Bridgeport), Fire Engine Pizza Company (Bridgeport), and Cowabunga (Norwalk) and The Vintanthromodern Vintage Clothing Truck (New Haven) will also be featuring their wares.
