"Eat, Drink and Be Merry" Lecture Series at Wilton Historical Society
For foodies or curious cooks looking for unique food and drink ideas for holiday entertaining.
In time for the holidays, Wilton Historical Society will be offering a series of lectures and demonstrations by noted food and drink experts. The series of four talks will be given on Thursday evenings in November.
Gary Allen, the author of several books on food writing and culinary history, will open the “Eat, Drink, and Be Merry” series, by sharing several excerpts from his recently published book Herbs: A Global History. Allen will lead us into the season by addressing holiday and winter eating.
Andrew F. Smith, writer (Drinking History: 15 Turning Points in the Making of American Beverages), and lecturer on food and culinary history is the second speaker. This riveting lecture will show why Americans drink what they drink and how beverages have changed American history. Allen explores great moments in beverage history involving American historical figures including Sam Adams, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Johnny Appleseed.
