I heard today Patch is laying a bunch of people off. Does that mean we can expect even less newsRead More now? Or just the same level of non-news?
Lorna May 6, 2013 at 02:26 pm
ChiliFries, if you were fortunate enough to see me you'd realize I have "padding in the rightRead More places." Zero desire to be a social X-ray. But I think there's something out of the ordinary to eat a 12-ounce steak unless you are pregnant, a lumberjack, training for the Olympics, etc. And I don't think restaurants offering massive portions are doing our economy as a whole any good, in terms of the associated costs of obesity (diabetes, heart conditions, arthritic problems that drive up everyone's insurance premiums) and waste. I would bet there are many sheltered dogs -- jeez, people in hard times -- who would be thrilled to have that extra 3 ounces of a massive steak that would otherwise be discarded if butchered and donated.

Lorna- Bring yourself a mushroom with a side of half a piece of romaine lettuce.

You can, oppose obama
EMR March 27, 2013 at 11:45 pm
Patch, have a separate political channel esp NRA and Gun stuff. Thanks

Free speech is important; however, it is not limited to individuals. Thought that was what part ofRead More the Citizens United case dealt with. And corporations should be able to act in their best interests to provide safe, productive environments for their workers. If a worker's acts are disruptive to the work environment, an employer should have the right to protect that environment and its product. No employer would stay in CT if their hands were tied with legislation denying them the ability to act to protect its work environment and its reputation.

Emily is my landscaper and my friend and she is AWESOME and so is her work. She is about as down toRead More earth and hardworking as they come. When Emily and her guys are finished with my property, it literally sparkles. I wish she could come every day! She and her crew are not your typical landscapers. She manages her crew beautifully and they really work. There is no down time. I am a huge fan and cannot say enough about Tall Trees. As the article mentions, she also gives back in a huge way to our community. Wilton is lucky to have Emily and Tall Trees!

Lorna-you're my type of gal! Organic is the way to go!
Lorna May 2, 2013 at 02:04 pm
Bravo, Emily for your spirit, generosity and commitment to our town! I have seen that you and yourRead More crew do a wonderful job caring for my neighbors' properties. I applaud you for your civic involvement with Kiwanis. It's truly heart-warming to know that local business owners like you feel compelled to "give back." Meanwhile, fellow Patch readers, stay away from those chemical-dumping lawn companies that are spreading suspected carcinogens and potentially ruining water supplies from excess nitrogen run-off. Our bird and bat populations are being affected by pesticides. Go organic!

Good luck, Maria. Sorry it has been so long without being in touch. By the way, could you use aRead More nice 48" deli case? We are leaving SoNo Marketplace and have one we don't need. Margaret Sapir (Wave Hill Breads)

Hey Mort, what has gone wrong in your life since this comment?: Mortimer Godfrey 1:19 am onRead More Saturday, September 15, 2012 Kent, Thanks for your response. It is always nice when people can have civil and intelligent discourse without resulting to name-calling,
Chandra Johnson Greene (Editor) April 26, 2013 at 03:15 pm
Hi Mortimer, we are aware that this restaurant is in Redding and not in Wilton. We are also awareRead More the Wilton residents do venture outside of their town every now and then to enjoy a nice meal.
Connecticut15 May 3, 2013 at 08:25 pm
Pro-intelligence, yes! But then people would probably have a very interesting definition ofRead More 'intelligence' just like transparency is not transparent or if you wait long enough, an old event not duly pursued is not worthy of any news except if it is Watergate and Valerie Plame, or 'balance' is only raising taxes...When our electorate thinks mind altering drugs that have been shown to make people psychotic are perfectly acceptable, you have to wonder how many mind altering drugs or how often they have imbibed. But then I have heard people say 'majority' means the same as 'unanimous!' Kid you not. I have heard people now describing all illegal immigrants as refugees - it sounds better. Can't trust the language nor the speaker.
Alethiologist April 13, 2013 at 12:03 am
Pro-education is good. The enemy of good is best. It would be best if you were pro-intelligence.
Ed April 12, 2013 at 12:11 pm
Jlo...so is this a 2A issue or a privacy issue....?
Rational Wilton Mom April 8, 2013 at 07:09 pm
That's great. I live within walking distance, in Wilton. Can't wait to try it out.
Jaimie Cura (Editor) April 8, 2013 at 09:17 pm
Thanks Karen! I LOVE spring rolls and the turkey wrap sounds awesome! I know people who will go onRead More culinary adventures when it involves lobster mac-and-cheese so they'll be happy to hear this!
Karen April 8, 2013 at 07:09 pm
That is not an easy question!! It's all SO delicious! Lobster mac-n-cheese is amazing! Love theRead More chicken quesadilla's and spring rolls too! Oh, and the turkey wrap with stuffing is amazing!!
Judee Beardsley April 7, 2013 at 01:24 pm
Living up the road, I"m very excited! Now I don't have to drive up to Ridgefield. Wish youRead More were opened today for a nice Sunday Brunch...mimosa"s...egg's...yummie!!! Judee B

The rental is probably astronomical...

Great size for a right-sized Town Hall...water view too!
Jrocky March 26, 2013 at 11:48 pm
They need to do some urban planning in that whole area. Plant some trees and make some sidewalks.Read More Make it less a big box store area and make something for isl out of south Wilton. How hard could it be?
Rational Wilton Mom March 21, 2013 at 04:09 pm
I think better and well-lit signage would look a whole lot nicer than the sandwich boards which areRead More randomly place and all over the roads. That certainly "cheapens" the look of Wilton more than larger signs.
Lorna March 21, 2013 at 03:35 pm
I wonder if P&Z members are following these articles and comments. Mr. Tortorelli raised someRead More good points about the restrictive signage and lighting. Yes, we don't want Rt. 7 to look like Times Square, but allowing more visible, prominent signage would help the small businesses dotting Danbury Road. Remember how many were driven out by the inconvenience of the widening project. Isn't it time to make the local business climate more amenable to entrepreneurs?
ETP March 21, 2013 at 12:08 pm
Heather, This article is more informative and insightful than any of the various reports coming outRead More of Town Hall that I have seen. We need TH to focus on ways to improve the business climate in town instead of letting them continue to look for ways to just tax & spend. As any economics 101 course reveals, high taxes and burdensome regulations are value killers. They have doubled TH salaries/benefits with no material change in service...but how does that help small businesses?
Batflyer March 25, 2013 at 10:22 pm
GreenSpray sounds like a great way to help with the out of door pest this summer. Another way youRead More can get rid of mosquitoes in the summer is have the Bats in your yard make a meal of then. The bats just need a place to stay during the day. Check out our Bat Houses at http://www.batsbirdsyard.com/ 5 models to choose from.

Many creepy crawly bugs, ants, Elder bugs, silverfish, stink bugs etc, in your home can be safelyRead More killed with a mixture of liquid dish soap and water in a spray bottle. This coats the insects in a bubble and they cannot breath. they die in a few inch crawl. Then you just wipe it all up and clean at the same time.
canaan guy March 24, 2013 at 11:57 pm
Only an illegal business such as a bookmaking operation or a sleazy Hedge Fund can afford thoseRead More rents.
LS March 24, 2013 at 02:30 pm
I could not agree more. Adding that there seems to be a slight overflow of not so well planned /Read More located venues in this town. Obviously at very high prices.
carol ball March 22, 2013 at 05:39 pm
Melissa, I didn't read the headline the way you did. To me, the title infers the fragility of beingRead More a business owner in Wilton, an issue that Heather has brought to the forefront with her frequent coverage. She is a persistent booster for local businesses. I have been encouraged to visit and support Wilton businesses I would not have gone to otherwise due to her steady focus on this issue.
Donald Borsch Jr. March 15, 2013 at 02:13 am
BK, You should apologize to Heather for seeking to derail this thread and make it about guns. ThereRead More are other postings for that kind of thing.
Reverend Barbara Sexton March 14, 2013 at 11:40 pm
Donald, you've been doing so well and I am very grateful for your intelligent, cogent and sensitiveRead More input into this, our Connecticut 'gun-control' debate, in the aftermath of the Adam Lanza shootings. I pray you do not get distracted by useless dialogue. It is only intended to demonize all of us legal gun owners. We must pick our battles carefully, I think you'll agree. God Bless You-Barb
Reverend Barbara Sexton March 14, 2013 at 11:04 pm
Many sacred sites (including Christian ones) are centered on places whereRead More marble/quartz/sandstone/limestone predominate; the reason for which is that it is a scientific fact that certain minerals do, indeed, manifest/store/enhance energies. All spiritual traditions rely upon geological, olfactory (perfume/incense) and even herbal constituents. Personally, I tend to favor my '9mm bullet dangle crystal earrings', echinacea and Hoppes No. 9 perfume. You know? (smile)

What a great idea! So much money, time and frustration is spent on a Disney trip. It is such a hugeRead More place with so many different things to do. I love the idea of hiring Lyn to help plan a trip. Saves a tremendous amount of exhaustion and $$. Maybe this next trip I get to enjoy the trip as much as my daughter!
