What Gov Dannel Malloy forgot to announce is that after 2015, Orlando gets this tournament for 2016Read More and 2017. That tells you something right there, does it not?

What are the odds I submitted the wrong bracket having Arizona win it all instead of the UCONN one?Read More About the same as winning the lottery with the numbers never even played. Its the new thing to do, if you don't like what you hear take to social media. I am sure a lawyer will join in provided he gets like 30K in fees.

This just in, I'll be wining the lotto tomorrow night, because whatever the numbers are, I'm sure IRead More asked for them and was given the wrong ones.

what a bunch of knuckle dragging, right wing racist fruit cakes! UNBELIEVABLE. ps: for Bill S.Read More students from EVERY College make the dean's list, only 1 NCAA division 1 b-ball CHAMP !
Bill S. April 11, 2014 at 07:47 am
To Bro Renza, True, students from every college make the deans list. However, why does winning aRead More national championship in basketball deserve more recognition and media hype than making the deans list? How do we expect our younger generation to put their priorities in the right place when all the recognition goes to excelling in sports? When job recruiters interview college students they don't ask for the win/loss record of the school's basketball team. Job recruiters stress academic preparation and achievement, work experience, and maturity. By the way, Bro Renza, since you want to dwell on sports, here is a tidbit for you. If you want to succeed on Wall Street, lacrosse is the sport for the Big Boys there, not basketball.

To mean 7million drops in a cart, 20% haven't paid. We still have 46 million + uninsured and cboRead More states 30 million for as long as the eye can see, but that doesn't matter. What matters is as a direct result of the aca law, you can't purchase health insurance until the next enrollment period

Sox fan since the 70's no bandwagon here. Awesome season last year! Especially considering that theRead More sox did it with a mix of homegrown talent and low priced free agents. Unlike some teams who went out this year and bought up the entire market.
B-Rad March 28, 2014 at 05:03 pm
Once again the Yankees will be a total failure....Since they started spending money in 2001 theyRead More have only won one world series...TOTAL FAILURE!!!! Their management will NEVER learn how to build a team based on players who have playoff experience. Instead they try to buy players where most of them never work out! Chemistry is such a huge factor in winning titles and this is something the Yankee forgot to do like they did back in the late 90's. They will once again a .500 team this year and if they get into the playoffs, they will be quickly ousted once again. REMIND ME WHO THE DEFENDING CHAMPS ARE AGAIN??? OH YES, THAT WOULD BE THE RED SOX. 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 10 YEARS!
Richard Poulton March 28, 2014 at 08:24 pm
Yes, B-Rad, you are correct. Red Sox's have 3 wins in last 10 years. Great, this makes for goodRead More baseball between fans on both sides. But seeing you like numbers, let's see the real numbers. Yankee's 27 world series rings. Boston 8. The numbers don't lie. FYI, I could care less either way. Can't wait for football season.

RED, thank you for the additional information, which further bolsters the case that Amanda RipleyRead More used a multi-variate example of "success" to make a more-or-less single factor case in her Atlantic article. Agenda journalism for sure.
NarrativeInterruptus October 13, 2013 at 07:21 am
If you actually read the source material at The Atlantic, you will find a much more balancedRead More assessment of the role of sports in schools and the impact on academics. It touches on other cases including a traditionally all-black woman's college that does away with its woman's hoops team. That school chose to repurpose the money and energy spent on sports ( and the 4% of students who are athletes) on getting the broader student body more active in life-long sports. Leslie chose to make her piece sound like this issue is all about Friday-night football programs, possibly setting her own agenda. As for Premont, maybe Red is correct because the final lines in the Atlantic are "This fall, Premont brought back a volleyball team and a cross-country team, in addition to basketball, baseball, track, and tennis. But for now, still no football." So unless Premont had and kept suspended lacrosse and swimming programs, I am hard-pressed so see how this is the "limited" list of restarted sports that Leslie suggested. Sorry, bit it seems like Leslie made this more about football than did the original material on which she based this "article".

Huh. Seems like the chickification of America to me, wrapped up in the shiny wrapper of elitistRead More condescension rooted in some false sense of "I have a degree *sniff* and I am so much more intelligent *sniff* than you!" Academics has a role in America, to be sure. But good luck telling little Tommy or Suzie that they really should pursue being an egghead instead of playing outside amongst their peers, learning defeat, success, discipline, and how to actually run.
