Formerly a working dairy farm until the late 1970s, the Grassi Property is a 71-acre space that still bears many of…More its old structures. Operated for years by Vinnie Tito, a former First Selectman of Wilton, the land was previously known as "Old Tito Farm."</p> <p>The Grassi Property is near the Woodcock Nature Center and has striking views, large fields and a large portion of wetlands. However, the area, including horseback riding trails with bridges, fords and jumps, is not public parkland. The town was granted an easement that allows visitors to pass over it via the marked trails, but it is still technically private property, so hikers are encouraged to remain only within the confines of these wooded avenues. Present-day park goers can visit a recently constructed barn that houses many of the area's horses and an old fieldstone foundation from the farm that still remains beneath a newer house.</p>
