The preschool welcomes all faiths and cultures, providing a play based education for children age’s two to five.</p> <p>The program utilizes a quality assurance process called the Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale, or "ECERS," to maintain the quality of its child care. This involves annual visits from an outside evaluator, who assesses staffing policies, curriculum, schedules, health and safety, community relations and the staff's interaction with the children and their parents.</p> <p>ZHPP creates an environment that nurtures each child's unique talents and abilities. The staff works to develop children's self confidence and a love of learning. They strive to instill self-respect and respect for others along with an appreciation for wonderful differences among people and cultures. In partnership with parents, grandparents, caregivers and the community, ZHPP provides a family atmosphere to support children’s education growth. Built with children in mind, Homespun property (which includes four general play areas) features child-sized equipment and furniture to make youngsters feel secure. A dual emphasis on education and health and safety is key; the staff is trained in early childhood education, CPR and First Aid. </p> <p>Staff meetings and training sessions are held throughout the year, including routine visits from medical and educational consultants who provide workshops and seminars for parents and teachers. The school’s child-care professionals use a variety of methods and tools (books, music, toys, etc.) to stimulate children’s curiosity and ease them into a scholastic environment, balancing a sensitivity toward the children’s emotional health with the process of teaching social and intellectual skills. These skills can range from dressing and toilet training for the school’s younger students to arts and crafts and “dramatic play” for toddlers to more advanced skills like rudimentary literacy and math for children in the preschool program. With a child-to-teacher ratio of four-to-one, teachers are able to provide children with individualized care designed to cater to each child’s educational needs.</p> </div>
