The Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team (SRERT), deployed under extenuating circumstances, is a network of…More officers from the Wilton, Trumbull, Westport, Monroe and Easton Police Departments trained to handle incidents where there is a high probability of someone being injured due to a criminal act. The team's training extends beyond that of most officers, enabling them to deal with situations involving barricaded subjects, hostages, suicide threats and other high-stress instances.</p> <p>SRERT's overriding goal is to provide a special unit that is well-equipped to resolve difficult situations in the most peaceful manner possible.</p>
