It serves 26.8 square miles of town…More and 18,000 residents.</p> <p>All told, the department has 30 personnel with 16 line firefighters, four Captains, four Lieutenants, two in the Fire Marshal’s Office, a Fire Chief and a Deputy Fire Chief, an Apparatus Maintenance Supervisor, and an administrative secretary between the main station and Station 2, also known as Marhoffer Station. The stations provide 24-hour fire, rescue and emergency medical services and hazardous material mitigation.</p> <p>The station has three fire pumpers, one ladder truck and one pumper/tanker—all have medical equipment on board. The department also owns a utility pickup truck, a HazMat vehicle, a small amphibious all-terrain vehicle and five staff and support vehicles.</p> <p>Chief Paul Milositz presides over the department. David Kohn is Wilton's fire marshal and Rocco Grosso is the fire inspector.</p> <p>In 2008, the station responded to 1,624 calls. Those included 497 fire and alarm calls, 786 EMT calls and 341 other calls.</p>

The Wilton Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a program that helps "train and equip citizens to be prepared…More to help themselves and their neighbors in the event of a disaster, crisis, or common emergency."</p> <p>Wilton's CERT division is composed of more than 60 citizens who undergo specialized training that helps prepare them to be effective in responding to emergencies. Technically, it is a secondary response unit and can be called upon by police and fire departments to assist in particular instances. </p> <p>The town of Wilton offers a free six-session training program to accredit members and skills training classes are offered at many other times during year.</p> <p>Jack Majesky is the organization's managing director, Colleen O'Brien is the director and communications officer, and the group is aided and advised by other town officials, such as First Selectman Bill Brennan and Fire Chief Paul Milositz.</p> <p>The group typically meets at Wilton Town Hall and can be contacted at info-cert@wiltoncert.org for more information.</p>
