Ed Katz is Managing Principal at Katnip Marketing, LLC, a marketing and media consultancy he founded in 2008 which works within the arts, B2B, B2C, entertainment, government, healthcare, media, non-profit, professional services, political, public affairs and public relations sectors. At Katnip, Ed’s multi award-winning work has boosted sales and enhanced the reputation and brand awareness for his clients, including many in the public sector. His public relations and media strategies helped one client obtain a six-figure legal settlement from a major record label, helped another client avoid a law suit and another to win a public service award from the Korean government (the first non-Korean to win the award). He also led the successful re-branding marketing campaign for a large healthcare facility.

Ed achieves client objectives through strategic media and PR initiatives and has obtained interviews and feature articles for his clients in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Vanity Fair as well as the Palm Beach Post, television news, national radio and print plus digital and social media. In 2020 Katnip Marketing won an international Telly Award and a Bernays Award for Best PR Campaign for a Small Business in South Florida from the Gold Coast Public Relations Council.

Prior to starting Katnip, Mr. Katz was a founding principal at Cashman + Katz, one of the Hartford & New Haven, CT market's largest full-service advertising and public relations agencies, forming it in 1992. During his 15 years there Ed and his creative, PR and media teams won over 100 industry awards, from national awards- like the Axiem, Pollie and PR News- to regional awards like the Mercury Awards, Ad Club, Bell Ringer, Quill, Summit and Telly Awards in all categories from creative (TV, radio, print, outdoor, digital) to public relations to overall marketing effectiveness. He oversaw a variety of executive, advertising, marketing, public relations and promotional functions, spurring the company’s growth and initiating the creation of that company’s focus group research subsidiary, Connecticut InFocus, LLC.

Katz has been interviewed on various media, business and advertising issues by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, MSNBC, Adweek, Mediaweek, PR News, The Hartford Courant, The New Haven Register, WFSB-TV 3 (CBS), WVIT-TV 30 (NBC), WTNH-TV 8 (ABC) and several area newspapers.
