Picture of the Week: Bird Watching for the World

Several Wiltonians gathered Saturday morning to go bird-watching and support the environment.

The Connecticut Sierra Club and Sunrise Birding co-hosted a morning walk on Saturday at Allen's Meadows Park.

But the walk wasn't just for fun; it was also aimed at raising awareness for the 350 campaign, a global initiative aimed at working toward solutions for the global energy crisis.

The picture was taken in the Allen's Meadows grasslands by Patrice Gillespie, who writes:

"We want a meaningful outcome to the climate talks in 'Hopenhagen!'  Let's declare war on carbon emissions, and re-stabilize the climate- for our own sake and for all flora and fauna, including billions of migrating birds that depend on existing shoreline locations and a rich biodiversity...We thank State Senator Toni Boucher for holding the umbrella for us- literally and figuratively."
