Fire Log: Patient Care and Accidental Alarms Abound

Two common themes for firefighters last week: patient care (16 incidents) and accidental alarm activations.

Monday, March 1, 2010

  • 6:40 AM: Fairview Lane, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 8:15 AM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 10:05 AM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 10:35 AM: Range Road, carbon monoxide incident.  Resident reported carbon monoxide alarm had gone off.  FD personnel investigated and metered the building, no readings found.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

  • 3:23 PM: Dudley Road, wires down.  Upon investigation FD personnel determined them to be cable television wires, and present no electrical hazards.  Firefighters removed the wires from the road and notified Cablevision.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

  • 5:51 AM: Clover Drive, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 8:48 AM: Millstone Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 12:45 PM: Danbury Road, fire alarm.  Accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards found.
  • 7:19 PM: Hubbard Road, lamp post fire.  Report of a lamp post on fire, upon arrival fire was out.  FD personnel checked for extension, none found.

  • 8:55 AM: Ridgefield Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 9:28 AM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 2:39 PM: Bryant Brook Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 4:54 PM: Danbury Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 7:28 PM: Liberty Street, fire alarm.  Apparent malfunction of the alarm system, no fire or hazards found.

  • 5:37 PM: Evergreen Avenue, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.

  • 7:30 AM: Danbury Road, smoke scare.  Report of smoke coming from a building, upon investigation source determined to be exhaust of a vehicle running in the parking lot.
  • 9:00 AM: Hurlbutt Street, public assistance.  Firefighters assisted resident with a smoke detector problem.
  • 10:00 AM: Old Kingdom Road, medical emergency.  Firefighters provided patient care, and assisted EMS and paramedic.
  • 6:40 PM: Danbury Road, fire alarm.  Apparent accidental activation of the alarm system, no fire or hazards found.
  • 8:30 PM: River Road, fire alarm.  Apparent water surge charged a dry sprinkler pipe, and activated the fire alarm.  No water released, occupant advised to contact service company.
