To the Editor: How Can You Make Go Green Festival a Success?

With the Go Green Festival right around the corner, here's how you can help.

To the Editor-

Over the last few months, you may have heard some buzz about the Wilton Go Green Festival to be held Sunday, May 2, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout Wilton Town Center.  Hosted by the Wilton Energy Commission, the Festival will be a fun way to learn about energy conservation and sustainable living – the small things that you can do every day to make a big difference.

Many of the exhibits and hands-on activities will be housed at the Wilton Library, and we plan to have tents for outside activities.  As you will see from our Web site, we already have a wide variety of enthusiastic partners—nine Wilton organizations and the Wilton Public Schools—as well as exhibitors, sustainability vendors, and organizations from all over the state, with more joining us every day!

An event like this requires sponsorship support and we thank our primary sponsors: the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund through the Community Innovations Grant Program, Deloitte through the Wilton Greening Initiative, Alteris Renewables, and Wilton Pizza.

How can you help make this event a success? As this is a true community-wide event, we are inviting each of our local merchants, clubs, associations and Wilton residents to help support the event by becoming a Green Donor. For a minimum contribution of $50, we will add you to the growing list of businesses and residents who want to help promote a more sustainable Wilton.  To become a Green Donor, please download a Sponsor Participation form from the Sponsors and Partners page of our website: www.wiltongogreenfestival.com. All donations will be used to create awareness of sustainable energy and living options.

In addition, one Green action that you can take in anticipation of the Festival is to sign up for Clean Energy Options for your local electricity source. CTCleanEnergyOptions is a voluntary program that supports clean, renewable energy produced from natural means such as wind, water and other sources. When you sign up to support clean energy, you will continue to receive one electric bill from CL&P, with your clean energy purchase as a separate line item on that invoice.

So please mark your calendars for May 2, become a Green Donor, and sign up for CTCleanEnergyOptions—and help Wilton Go Green!

We look forward to hearing from you.
